Amendment 28: Gun Control Safety Act
Article 1
Gun restrictions shall be enforced to lower the risk of any possible outbreak of any gun violence. We shall raise the age to buy a gun, to the age of 26.
Article 2
More gun regulations will be taken place, to enforce background searches, and test the mentality of people to see if they are mentally stable to own a gun. This shall take exactly 4 months.
Article 3
Prices shall be raised by 10% and shall be taxed an extra 2.7% in order for guns to be harder to get.
Arguments in favor of this amendment:
1. To reduce the possibility of getting killed in public space
~ Insist on mandatory training and licensing for owners.
~Most adults, including those who own guns, support reasonable gun laws including background checks, bans on assault weapons, and restrictions on large-capacity magazines.
2. reducing the likelihood of school shootings
~ Reduce firearm access to youth and individuals who are at risk of harming themselves or others.
~ Armed civilians are unlikely to stop crimes and are more likely to make dangerous situations, including mass shootings, more deadly.
3. reducing gun violence
~ Require safe and secure gun storage.
~More gun control leads to fewer suicides.
4. to decrease gang violence rates
~ Hold the gun industry accountable and ensure there is adequate oversight over the marketing and sales of guns and ammunition.
~Gun control laws would reduce the societal costs associated with gun violence.
Opposing perspectives:
1. It is an attack on the second amendment.
~ Limiting assault rifles limits your Second Amendment rights
~ The Second Amendment is not intended for just ordinary home defense
~ The Second Amendment of the US Constitution protects individual gun ownership.
2. It begins to increase the number of gun owners.
~ advocates of gun control argue that guns are not effective as a means of self-defense
~ Gun control laws do not deter crime, gun ownership deters crime.
